Creating A Debt Management Plan

Monday, January 21st, 2008

By Michael Louis Everyone has debt, no doubt about it. Think about all the credit cards, loans, utilities, and medical bills we incur every month or year. We all have debt, which means we should all have a debt management plan. You can create your own plan or obtain the help and guidance from a reputable company or organization, the choice is yours. However, you should make your decision on which debt management company you should choose based on the services they offer and the fees they charge. You will find some companies are not for profit and do not charge anything for their services. However, other charge extensive fees, and in some cases, they are hidden and you never know it until you find you are being forced to pay it. Some are extremely sneaky and ask you for contributions on a voluntary basis, which could lead to further debt. So be extremely careful with the company you choose and check them out extensively, the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) could be of great help, as well as the BBB (Better Business Bureau), you also want to look for licensed companies. Now when you have established a debt management plan, what will generally happen is one of two things. You will either establish your own savings specifically for deposits on your plan or you will make these deposits to the company you have chosen to help you reduce your debt. Either way, these deposits should be for nothing more than that debt. A company might be a better choice, because they can generally rework the debt you owe and negotiate lower rates of interest and sometimes eliminate penalties or late fees. There are some things you need to do if you are using a company. The first thing to do is make sure you are following your debt management plan right regularly. This means you want to make all your payments on time, every time. This is the best way to manage your debt, make sure you are keeping up with all payments. You should have no problems in making the payments, because the company will help you establish a viable budget, in which these payments will be included. Furthermore, each month your creditors will send you a statement, as well as one to the company you are working with on your debt management plan. Look these statements over very carefully. You want to be sure that your payments are being made and credited according to the plan that you and the company developed. If ever you find you cannot make a payment on time or you find that the company is not following your debt management plan, you should contact them right away. If you find the company is not working to your satisfaction, immediately stop working with them, contact your creditors, and stop any direct payments from your bank to the company. Michael Louis is always looking for ways to save and manage money. Did you find these tips useful? You can learn more tips on debt management at 123reducedebt.com. Enjoy Your Own Fountain

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

By Marge Snow Lots of people are making fountains part of their outdoor dcor. And why not? Fountains add a touch of class and when chosen carefully, really compliment your landscaping. The sound of the running water alone adds an extra dimension to your garden. Even if you don’t have a water pond in your backyard, you can still enjoy the beauty and tranquility of a fountain. The most basic fountain that you can use without a pond is what I call the birdbath style. It looks just like a birdbath, but has a little fountain built into the center. The unit is completely self contained, and easy to set up. If you have a birdbath in your yard now, have a look at it. You might be able to add a small fountain to it. The bowl will act as the fountain’s reservoir. But be forewarned, the birds may not like visiting your birdbath anymore. If you want to go all out, you’ll find bunches of larger freestanding fountains. If you’re looking for something that can be the focal point of your garden, these are the fountains to look at. They come in a couple of different flavors. Some are multi tired. You see these in a lot of city parks. Basically, they are a series of birdbath fountains placed on top of each other. The top bowl has a larger fountain pumping water into the air. The water collects in the top bowl until it spills onto the next. It does this through two or tree bowls until collecting in the reservoir. These are really nice fountains, but tend to be pretty big. The waterfall is another type of large fountain for your backyard. Like the name implies, these fountains simulate a waterfall. Instead of shooting water into the air, water is allowed to gently fill the top “pond” until it spills over. On some the water is allowed to gently glide down a slope. On others it spills over like Niagara Falls. You can find these with multiple stages or a single stage. If you want something larger than a birdbath fountain, but don’t want it to dominate your garden, a wall fountain may be for you. Have you seen the fountains in old European cities? The ones mounted on the walls. It’s usually a lion or angel with water flowing from its mouth into a basin. That’s a wall fountain. They can be placed against your home’s exterior wall or if you get creative and can secure it, against a trellis. These also come with their own little reservoir. There you have it. Fountains for your yard, even if you don’t have a pond. Of course, if you have a pond, you’ll have lots of other choices. But for those of us who don’t want to dig a pond or don’t have a large enough backyard, these free standing fountains are a great alternative. And you’ll be able to enjoy the beauty and tranquility a fountain offers for years to come. Copyright 2006 Marge Snow About the Author: Marge is a crafter of many years. How to Get Rid of Skunk Smell

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

By Jennifer McCleary Your driving down the road and you smell that pungent, and very unique smell of a skunk. You dont see the skunk any longer, but you can still smell that distinct grotesque smell. At least you can be thankful that you are just passing through. What if youre not passing through, what if its not on the road? What do you do if that skunk smell is on one of your pets, or ever worse, what if its on you? If you live in the country it can be very common to come across skunks and, surprising to say that even if you live in the suburbs or the city you may be frequented by a skunk. My grandfather would just say to shoot them and move on, but who wants to get close enough to a skunk to shoot it? What if they spray you in the process? Or, what if your dog has had an encounter with a skunk? Skunks can spray up to 10 feet away, with exact accuracy. If you have had an unfortunate encounter with a skunk you may be wondering what to do to get rid of the smell? 1. Dont try the old home remedy of bathing in tomato juice, it wont work. All you will do is leave a nasty, red ring around your tub, and now you will smell like tomato juice and skunk. Yuck! 2. Dont try scrubbing down with citrus juice, it doesnt work either. It wont take the smell away, you will just end up a sticky mess and now you reek of skunk juice! 3. Dont even try to mask it with perfume or air fresheners. We all remember those kids in junior high who tried to cover up B.O. with cologne, this is even worse! Febreeze wont even work and your animals wont appreciate the attempts either. Believe me, Ive tried! Skunks are defiantly a problem to encounter! They may look cute and furry, but they are not an animal you want to be around! Like I said, they can shoot their spray 10 feet away and have very accurate aim. They use it as a defense mechanism and there is no telling what they will be defensive towards. Unfortunately, sometimes there is no way to avoid skunks and it is not uncommon to be sprayed by one. There are however some home recipes that have been proven to take away skunk smell. Simple Gardening - What to Grow? Article 2

Monday, January 14th, 2008

By Rachel Annarve In this series of 10 articles we will discuss the process of creating a simple garden. Now that you have learnt what type of soil you have, and conditioned it, you now need to think about what type of plants you are going to grow. For the sake of simplicity, I am going to use as my example 10 polystyrene boxes, the garden equivalent to an approximately 5m x 2.5m plot. (approximately 15×8 ft) For this amount of space, a good assortment would be: 1 box carrots 1 box Lettuce 1 box radish 1 box dwarf tomatoes (4-6 plants) 2 boxes cauliflower (8-10 plants) 1 box dwarf beans 1 box silver beet 1 box strawberries 1 box berries (red, black, orange, usually a compact but fast growing type) Everyones choices will be different, but this is a nice group that can be grown in free containers with little work. With containers you can put them on a verandah, down a sunny path or up against the house…. even inside if you have trays to catch the water. In most areas these crops are very easy to grow and pests can be kept to a minimum. The biggest problem with the list above would be keeping the birds away from the berries ! If youd like a quick and easy resource to help with this decision, the unabridged article with resources can be viewed at http://e-libris.co.nz/auctionresource/gardening2.html You can pick up Strawberries and other berries as young plants. These will last many years as they are annual fruit bearers. While the best time to plant seeds and seedlings is in Spring, there are now many varieties of plants you can get that produce all year round. For instance in New Zealand we have All season Cabbage, Cauliflower, broccoli and lettuce. And there are many things such as Kale and other root crops that will grow throughout the year. Once you have decided on the right crop and have either bought or raised seedlings, you will need to prick them out and plant them, properly spaced, in the containers.Make sure the spacing is adequate for each plant as this gives it more room to grow and produce better crops. Your geographic area will also dictate what you can grow and when. For example, it may be very hard to grow tomatoes outside in an area that is fairly cold all year round. If in doubt, just go to the nearest place that sells seeds. All the information, with maps of your country should be on the seed packet. Now you have decided on the exact plants you want to grow, we will talk about seed raising in the next article, Happy Gardening Rachel Annarve If you enjoyed this article or would like to see more in this series, please view the unabridged article at http://e-libris.co.nz/auctionresource/gardening2.html This author has been gardening for 20 years and supplies her household with all the fruits and vegetables it needs from just a small area of land. I Remember The Habit Created of Obeying; Now My Credit is Blemished

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

By Dottiedee Glass Dottiedee here sharing, “I Remember” as this is my story dear to my heart, may we all find our lesson contained within the words on this page. I grew up in South Central Nebraska on a farm. I had been brought up in a Christian family which attended church often, it came first in our lives. As I grew up learning to obey my parents for this is right, I often wondered when I could do something in my life that wasn’t from obeying. I got tired of that word a lot. Maybe I was rebelling against something which I knew deep in my heart just wasn’t right, you know? We were taught to obey our parents, obey our teachers, obey our church leaders, obey our government authorities and women obey our husbands when we marry and of course to obey God. All of this obedience would get us to heaven, and to disobey would land us in hell when we died, thus, we functioned out of fear, not love. We were certainly being dominated by a dominator every living moment of our lives. As a girl to become a woman I can remember feeling, I wasn’t quite good enough, my brothers where in a better position to end up in heaven than I was cause they could tell their wives what to do. What if I could have been a boy instead of a dumb girl? What if I could be able to tell people what to do like the church leaders, who were men, of course? What if I could tell the women how long their hair had to be, how long their skirts were to be and how horrible to think of wearing make up? But as a girl that wasn’t my place, it had to come from the men, they knew best for us ladies, you understand? What would it be like to have authority over all of the women, I used to wonder while looking at the clouds in the sky lying on the green grass of summer. When I was engaged my boyfriend said, “I just want to possess you!” I wondered if that meant he would like to buy me as a farmer does a tractor. I felt like he was the owner of a new toy, a girl doll. I didn’t know what to do with these feelings because I was shifting from one dominator to another dominator, from father to husband. I remember the day my husband did something I knew the “church” would not approve of so I mentioned it to him. I was dominated into place quickly by the dominator who knew how to be one, so I remained silent, as I was taught women are to be. What if we could have had a loving partnership relationship rather than a dominator/dominated relationship? Our habits have been passed down from generation to generation for a long time of living in a dominator/domination system. We can read our recorded history and find for the last 4000+ years, most of our planet has been ruled by the dominator/dominated system. What will it take to get this mind set out of our physic? Remember when we studied history in school, how we had to learn all of the dates and the generals of all the wars, and who won and where they were fought? We had to learn all about the wars of Europe and those fought on North American soil and those of the World Wars, studying all of the bloodshed of the dominator over the dominated, remember? How long since you read the books of Moses? Talk about bloodshed of dominator over dominated, could this have something to do with the mind set of the world today? What if all wars were just a dominator proving he is the one and the dominated had to be sacrificed to allow the dominator to be correct? Have you ever wondered how people lived before recorded history? Could they have lived a much more peaceful life with no wars to record, so no recorded history? Chemical Peel Facts - Is It Right For You

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

By John Morris Nowadays, there are a lot of options available towards getting that youthful glow for your skin. From the most complicated of plastic surgeries, to a simple face lift or chemical peel - there are about a hundred options that one can choose from to remove dead skin cells and get rid of that old, wrinkled look to give your spirits a lift and your morale a boost. 1. Skin Damage When we go out and get exposed to sunlight, the outer layer of our skin gets damaged and dead skin cells remain embedded on our skin, resulting from the dirt that gets stuck to the pores. Thus, as we grow old, the skin looks more dull and lifeless. When you add the acne scars, freckles and other facial blemishes, you really would like to have an option to restore that youthful glow that only movie stars seem to exude on screen, no matter how old or young they are. 2. What Is A Chemical Peel? If you would not like to go for the surgical and more complicated procedures such as face lift and plastic surgery, chemical peel is definitely an option for you. There are three basic types of chemical peel that you can choose from, depending your individual need and skin type. Basically, a chemical peel is a procedure wherein the dead skin cells and the damaged outer layers of the skin are removed. There is that chemical word in the term because a chemical solution is used to smoothen or even out the texture of the skin. Eventually, the chemical applied causes the skin to peel off, hence the term chemical peel. This is typically done on the face, neck or hands. The procedure also enhances your overall look by removing the damaged outer skin layers. This is applicable and recommended for people with uneven skin tones, for people with wrinkles and facial scars from pimple/acne, and for people who just need to improve their skin texture. 3. Mild Peel This procedure removes the superficial skin layer. This is the most skin-friendly type of peel and may be performed on all skin types. It is used to treat simple acne and pimple scars and uneven skin pigmentation. The chemical peel involves a dilute acid solution, which normally stays on the skin for a few minutes. After the chemical has been applied, the skin is neutralized with water, then the solution is wiped off. This type of peeling procedure produces a light peel, and will result to a smoother and brighter-looking skin and improved skin texture. 4. Medium Peel This procedure goes a little beyond the superficial layer of the skin. After the treatment, the person undergoing the procedure will experience a sun-burned look and the skin might look chafed. The chemical solution stays longer on the skin, as compared to mild peels. This is applicable for people with more sun-damaged skin types, and can treat wrinkles as well as uneven skin pigmentation. 5. Deep Peel (RARELY USED) As compared to the mild and medium-depth peel, the chemical used for this type of peeling goes through several skin layers. This can treat more pronounced skin pigmentations and wrinkles, as well as pre-cancerous growths. Moreover, this has more medical complications and considerations so it is better to consult a medical professional before undergoing a deep chemical peel. The procedure will definitely take a longer time, about more than an hour, for the chemical applied on the affected skin to take effect. However, the results are more glaring than the first two types. After the treatment, whether you opt to go for a mild, medium-depth or deep peel, the person who underwent the procedure will experience redness of the skin. This will be followed by scaling, then peeling. The number of days that the skin will peel depends on the strength of the treatment. It is also important to avoid sun exposure after undergoing the chemical peel procedure. Finally, it is always good to consult a medical professional before undergoing any procedure, to be on the safe side. It is better to know every detail about the treatment that you would like to undergo, so that you would know how your skin would be treated and what to expect right after the treatment. Barbie Doll Collecting - Something For Everyone

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

By Terry Edwards Barbie doll collecting has been around for quite a while time and has accomplished many things. She has been everything from a fashion model to an astronaut. It is safe to say that Barbie is so popular that almost every little girl owns at least one. But Barbie is not just for little girls, she is a highly collectible doll. There are Barbies made for play and there are Barbies made for collectors. The first thing that you need to decide when you start collecting Barbies is what kind do you want to collect? There are thousands of different types of Barbies out there. Very few people would have the money or the storage space to collect them all. Let’s look at the different types of Barbies that you can collect: Vintage Barbie dolls. These are dolls made before 1972. These are the dolls that you will most likely pay the most for. Some vintage Barbies can sell for over a thousand dollars. Pink Box Barbies. The pink box Barbies are the Barbies that are meant for play. They are inexpensive and can be found in abundance in the toy aisle of your favorite store. The collectible box Barbie is especially designed for adult collectors. They cost a little more, but are usually not outrageously expensive. Collect by themes. There are many types of themes for Barbie collectors. There are movie themes, such as Gone With The Wind or the Wizard of Oz, celebrity themes, such as Barbie as I Love Lucy, holiday themes, fantasy themes, and the list goes on and on. Fashion designer collection. These are Barbies who have been designed by famous fashion designers such as Bob Macke or Christian Dior. Barbies have a condition grading system much like baseball cards. The grades range from C10 being the best to C1 that is the absolute worst and looks like your dog’s chew toy. It is important to know this grading system by heart if you are going to do some serious collecting. It can help you determine the value of any Barbie you may find. Once you start your Barbie collection it is also vitally important that your learn how to store them properly. Improper storage of your doll can cause irreparable damage to the doll and its clothing. The garage, attic or basement is not the place to store your dolls. These places are not climate controlled and the fluctuation between hot and cold can damage the doll. Moisture can seep in and cause mold and the doll may make good nest building material for rats or mice. Do not store your dolls in closed plastic bags or plastic Tupperware type containers. These containers can trap in moisture and cause mold to form on your dolls. Some plastic containers will emit gases that can harm plastic or vinyls, as well as paper. Storing your doll in their original boxes may seem like a good idea; however it can actually damage the dolls due to the acid in the boxes. If you want to store your doll in the box, wrap it in acid free tissue paper first. Remove any jewelry or metal items from the doll because over time they will discolor plastics. The best place to store your dolls would be in a trunk or chest of drawers in an area of the home that maintains a constant temperature. Wrap everything in acid free tissue paper prior to storage and check your dolls periodically. Under the right storage conditions, your Barbie dolls will still look brand new decades from now. Aluminium And Wooden Greenhouses

Monday, January 7th, 2008

By Garry John An important addition to any British back garden, greenhouses are firmly established in the British way of life. It’s probably the inclement weather that drives the british gardener ‘inside’. If you are visiting this site then you are probably thinking about obtaining a new greenhouse. It is possible you don’t know the type of greenhouse you need or even how to decide on the type of greenhouse. Greenhouse design was revolutionised with the arrival of aluminium frames and the scarcity of pine. This article takes a brief look at the differences between metal and wooden greenhouses. — Wooden Greenhouses — Wooden Greenhouses are the choice for the traditionalist and the expert gardener. They are commonly made from Canadian Western Red Cedar, which is renowned for it’s exceptional long life outdoors as a result of it’s effective rot resistance. Wooden greenhouses are the traditional style of greenhouse before the aluminium greenhouses and plastic greenhouses became more popular towards the end of the last century. A timber greenhouse will obviously blend in naturally with your garden and will become an integral feature rather than something of an eyesore which you wish to hide away. Timber is also the choice of the expert gardener and it is generally agreed that it is the best material for a greenhouse. One of the main reasons is that the red cedar greenhouses are much better at maintaining a constant temperature than aluminium ones, which obviously leads to a healthier and more natural environment. An experienced gardener will know the benefit of having things to hand and a wooden frame will allow the gardener to easily fix hooks and shelves exactly where he wants them, so those all important greenhouse accessories are to hand. The wooden frame also makes it easier to fix an extra layer of insulation of plastic bubble sheeting, such severe weather conditions prevail. The best time to add a protective coat to a timber frame is before winter sets in. Choose a good day in the late autumn and give the frame any attention it needs. Look for any wear and tear and treat it immediately. Most good timber frames come with a ten year gaurantee, but don’t wait for 10 years before checking. Wooden greenhouses are slightly more expensive than aluminium and plastic ones, but do offer more to the experienced gardener. Aluminium and plastic greenhouses are a better choice for the beginner before upgrading to a timber greenhouse. — Aluminium Greenhouses — A major advantage of aluminium greenhouses is that they are relatively cheap and maintenance free. They are the best choice of greenhouse if your priority is low maintenance. However, you should be aware of the advantages of other types of greenhouse. For example, with wooden greenhouses it is easy to fix extra shelves and hookes, inside and out. Aluminium is certainly easier to maintain than a wooden greenhouse, but care should be taken to keep all structural components as clean as possible to deter pests and disease.Aluminium greenhouses are certainly the most popular at the moment and part of the attractiveness is the flat pack packaging and (relatively easy) self assembly. This helps keep the cost down and aluminium is the value for money choice of greenhouse. Before erecting an aluminium greenhouse, there are certain considerations. Firstly you should decide upon the location of the greenhouse. Somewhere easily accessible during bad weather would be good. Observe areas of your garden during sunny days to see which parts get the most sunlight. Some protection from wind would be good, but not at the expense of blocking out light. Also, be aware of any stray footballs from next door ! If you’re after a value for money and low maintenance greenhouse then aluminium is a good choice. You may lose some of the aesthetic qualities of a wooden greenhouse, but you do benefit from modern technology and design.
